This site was born when I stopped at a skatepark on my way home from a mountain bike ride, and a skate-punk kid threatened to call the cops on me if I dropped into the bowl. At that moment, something clicked- how did a bunch of kids, who by and large aren't old enough to vote or pay taxes, where the culture revolves around a degree of lawlessness, gain official sanction?
My goal for dirtbikeridingisnotacrime.org is simple. First, I want to raise the profile of off-road riding, and help people understand that motorcyclists are more like their neighbor, and less like whatever stereotype they might have in mind. Second, I want to take all the proceeds from sticker and shirt sales, and send it to groups that are working to keep our remaining trail-riding opportunities alive.
Finally, I want to create a mailing list that can be used for two
things- to get the word out about what people can do to help, and to distribute beneficial offers from companies that support off-road riding, so that they get a return on their investment in our sport (and we get a chance at good deals).
